Explanation:
The path of point P is a coupler curve of the four-bar linkage A0ABB0,
such that a part approximates a straight line. To pass this part with constant
speed, a double crank mechanisms D0DEA0 has been placed
in series with the four-bar. This mechanism is typically suited for use in a
continuously moving production machine, when during the escort of the product a
contact force is required. In the egg-box application point P escorts the
egg-box, while the cover is closed. Point P holds down the box during a
critical phase in the folding operation, preventing that the egg-box will be
lifted off the production belt.
